London visitors will increasingly want to learn about London’s preparations and plans for the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
This endorsement will enable Blue Badge guides to offer specialist tours eg. to Stratford and the Olympic Park area, and to satisfy visitors' general interest.
This course is not officially endorsed by or in any way associated with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, the Olympic Development Authority or the Olympic and/or Paralympic Movement more generally. The Blue Badge endorsement you will receive on successfully completing the course is not an accreditation that London 2012 or any other Games body have endorsed.
Those guides who achieve the endorsement will have it listed in the Institute directory. The list will also go to Tour Guides and relevant organisations and who may need guiding services.
The endorsement will run every winter from 2007 - 2012 (subject to demand). There will be an optional update day each year, starting 2008, for those who have the endorsement but want to keep up with the progress.
Course dates for 2008: 14 - 24 January & 5 February for assessment.
Cost of course for 2008: £195.00
The fee covers:
- 36 hours teaching in lecture halls or on site and in coaches
- Handbook containing detailed 2012 information and handouts for the endorsement
- Cost of assessment and marking
- Administration costs
- Endorsement fee to Institute
