Laid-back Baracoa, where Columbus first made landfall, is in the far south eastern corner of Cuba with the flat-topped El Yunque (the anvil) mountain looming up behind it. It has the reputation of being a hippy hangout, though we can’t honestly claim to have spotted any hippies. There is a nice, relaxed atmosphere nonetheless and (partly due to transport issues) we ended up staying here longer than anywhere else.
